After years of shifting between streaming platforms, Hannibal, starring Mads Mikkelsen, is finally returning to Netflix. The critically acclaimed series reimagines the chilling relationship between FBI profiler Will Graham and Dr. Hannibal Lecter.

All seasons of Hannibal stream on Netflix in July

Hannibal Season 1-3 will begin streaming on Netflix from Monday, July 27, 2026 (via What’s on Netflix). The show was previously available on the platform for a year, beginning in June 2020. Now, after five years, it is making its way back, allowing fans to revisit the cult classic.

The series is based on the characters that appear in Thomas Harris’ iconic novels Red Dragon, Hannibal, and Hannibal Rising. Bryan Fuller (Dust Bunny and Star Trek: Voyager) developed the series for NBC. He also served as the showrunner, co-producer, and co-writer.

Hannibal follows criminal profiler Will Graham, who helps the FBI solve gruesome serial murder cases. To manage the psychological effects of his work, Will is treated by the psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lecter, who is secretly a cannibalistic serial killer. As the two grow closer, Will begins to see the truth behind Hannibal’s false persona.

The show features Mads Mikkelsen, Hugh Dancy, Laurence Fishburne, Gillian Anderson, Caroline Dhavernas, Hettienne Park, Scott Thompson, Aaron Abrams, and Lara Jean Chorostecki, among others.

Hannibal Season 1 debuted on NBC on April 4, 2013, with episodes airing weekly. The subsequent seasons arrived in 2014 and 2015, respectively. Over three seasons, the show has 39 episodes. Its finale, titled “The Wrath of the Lamb,” aired on August 29, 2015.

Throughout its run, the series received overwhelmingly positive reviews. Season 1 garnered an 83% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. For Seasons 2 and 3, it earned an impressive 98%. On IMDb, more than 350K users have rated it 8.5/10.

Despite the favorable ratings, NBC canceled Hannibal due to poor viewership. However, the show gained a massive cult following once streaming services became more common, reaching a broader audience.
