In a conversation with E! News at the 2025 Tony Awards, Michelle Williams reflected on her decades-long friendship with Destiny’s Child bandmates Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland. “They’re my anchors and I felt so supported with them there,” she said about their attendance at her Broadway show.

Williams described their bond as a true sisterhood, noting, “It means the world to me that you can look back and say over 25 years of friendship, and we’ve been friends longer than we were a group.” She emphasized that their relationship has endured beyond their careers as performers.

In a separate appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Williams shared insight into their group chat. When asked what the Destiny’s Child group text is like, she responded, “It is pure, it’s friendship, it’s all of those things.” She added that she is “surprisingly” the most talkative of the three. “It depends,” she said, but also noted Rowland could easily take the title, saying, “I don’t know Kelly now,” to which Hudson agreed, “Kelly can talk.”

In December 2024, Williams told People that Beyoncé and Rowland supported her on the opening night of the musical Death Becomes Her, in which she stars as Viola Van Horn. “Having them there, I felt anchored,” she said. “Even though they weren’t on stage with me, I felt so grounded.” She added that their presence gave her “fuel” for the rest of her Broadway run.

Williams also told Jennifer Hudson later that Rowland encouraged her to accept the role. “Our relationship might have been threatened if I didn’t do this show,” she joked.
