
Republic Pictures has shared the official trailer for Shell, the upcoming dark comedy thriller led by Golden Globe winners Kate Hudson (Almost Famous) and Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale). The movie is scheduled to debut on October 3 in select theaters and on digital platforms.

What happens in the Shell trailer?
The video introduces Moss as Samantha, an actress who enters a wellness program run by Hudson’s Zoe in hopes of revitalizing her career. However, she’ll soon realize that fame indeed comes with a price when Samantha uncovers the dark truth behind Zoe’s success. The trailer highlights the consequences of entering Zoe’s program, as she tries to find a way to escape.
Shell is directed and produced by Max Minghella from a screenplay written by Jack Stanley. This marks Moss and Minghella’s latest collaboration after co-starring as each other’s love interests in the acclaimed Hulu drama The Handmaid’s Tale. The movie also stars Kaia Gerber, Arian Moayed, Lionel Boyce, Este Haim, Randall Park, Ziwe, Amy Landecker, Peter MacNicol, Blake Lee, and more.
“Desperate to reclaim her career, once-beloved actress Samantha Lake is drawn into the glamorous world of wellness mogul Zoe Shannon—only to uncover a monstrous truth beneath its flawless surface,” reads the official synopsis.
In addition to leading the cast, Moss is also producing alongside Fred Berger, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Minghella, Lindsey McManus, Hal Sadoff, Norman Golightly, and
